A Message From Mark O'Bryant

Mark O'Bryant
President & CEO
I am pleased to tell you about an exciting new project that will make TMH’s emergency care faster and more convenient than ever before while maintaining the same high level of clinical quality you have come to expect. The project is a new, freestanding Emergency Center specifically designed to meet the increasing demands of our growing Big Bend region. The new Emergency Center will be located at the Thomasville Road and I-10 interchange. It will be staffed by our outstanding TMH Emergency physicians, able to respond to emergency situations involving stroke, heart attack and other life threatening illnesses. A freestanding Emergency Center is not a new concept. Innovative health care systems around the country have developed similar centers to improve access and drive down wait times for those in critical need of emergency treatment.

With this new Emergency Center we will also be able to add new features that extend the specialized care of our pediatric intensive care and geriatric services. In fact, special emphasis will be placed upon the specific needs of pediatric and geriatric patients to increase their comfort and lessen their anxiety during treatment.
This includes a separate entrance and waiting area designed specifically for our pediatric patients. This specialized care for our pediatric and geriatric patients will coincide with the Emergency Center’s goal of delivering customized, concierge service to all.

All of us at TMH envision the new Northeast Emergency Center as a place of healing for patients and their families. Of course, saving lives is our focus at this new Emergency Center. When minutes count, the quicker you can get to the Emergency Center, the better. And we believe this new Emergency Center will be critical for people in our region who must drive many miles to reach emergency care. Finally, we’re looking forward to being a good neighbor in our new location and meeting with our friends and neighbors who live nearby.

I think it is FANTASTIC! I am so proud to be a nurse that is working in a "World Class" facility! We, at Bixler, offer a great service to our community and the surrounding area. I, for one, am happy to call TMH my "Hospital for Life"!

  3. Wow, now that some of the dust settled, we can focus on the facts. An ER with specialized care for tots and seniors, convenient access to the greater community in which it serves, backed by the TMH family of physicians for follow up and subsequent care, BRILLIANT. SIMPLY Brilliant.

  4. As the #1 place for retirement, this couldn't come at a better time. I am a business owner that specializes in geriatric care. This will be a blessing for our senior population, their families and the community. Thank you, TMH!
